Our Funds
The Community Foundation of PEI provides philanthropic opportunities with both charitable organizations and the privately developed community support funds that we have helped establish. The list of funds is large, and growing every year. Seen below are some the current funds and organizations for which we are proud to help raise financial support – our purpose is to help connect caring people with worthy causes.

COMMUNITY GRANTS
Fund income is used by the CFPEI to make grants in the Fund’s name to existing and emerging worthy Island organizations. Click on the name of a fund to learn more about it!
100 Women Who Care PEI Fund (Flowthrough)
This fund a lump sum donation to an Island not for profit or charitable organization of the members choice on a quarterly basis.
Agricultural Heritage Fund (Endowment)
The Agricultural Heritage Fund was established in 2003 by CFPEI and Dr. Tom Hall to provide grants to support organizations that provide the identification, retrieval, restoration, documentation, storage and display of heritage agricultural equipment.
Arthur and Theresa MacDonald Fund (Designated – Endowment)
The Arthur & Theresa MacDonald Charitable Trust Fund was established in memory of Arthur & Theresa MacDonald in 1997 to support organizations and causes in the communities they grew up in.
Alzheimer’s Society of PEI Foundation Trust Fund (Endowment)
The Alzheimer’s Society of PEI Foundation Trust Fund was established by the Alzheimer Society of PEI Foundation Inc. in 2011 to provide grants to organizations that provide care for persons suffering from Alzheimer disease or related dementias through public education initiatives about Alzheimer disease or related dementias, and/or support services to persons with the disease and their caregivers.
Beach Tennis Club Trust Fund (Designated – Endowment)
This endowment fund was established in 2006 by the Beach Tennis Club of Stanhope P.E.I. to provide an annual grant in support of Tennis PEI.
Bedeque Area Historical Museum Fund (Designated – Endowment)
This endowment fund was established in 2023 by the Bedeque Area Historical Society Inc in support of their organization.
Belfast Area Watershed Group (Flowthrough)
This endowment fund was established to support the work of the Belfast Watershed Group.
Big Brothers Big Sisters Fund (Designated – Endowment)
This endowment fund was established in 2019 by Big Brothers Big Sisters PEI in support of their organization.
Brian McGuire Memorial (The Onion) Fund (Endowment)
This endowment fund was established in 2022 in support of Hospice PEI and the Provincial Palliative Care Centre of PEI in perpetuity.

Canada Games Legacy Fund (2023) (Flowthrough)
The 2023 Canada Games Legacy Fund was established at Community Foundation of PEI by the Canada Games Legacy Committee and the Host Society in 2023 in support of sport throughout Prince Edward Island. The purpose the 2023 Canada Games Legacy Fund is to develop and build upon the legacies of the past Games in a way that benefits sport throughout Prince Edward Island. The 2023 Canada Games Legacy Fund will complement and not duplicate the exceptional results of the 2009 Canada Games Dreams and Champions Program that will continue to exist in Prince Edward Island.
Cat Action Team Fund (Designated – Endowment)
This endowment fund was established in 2023 by the Cat Action Team Inc in support of their organization.
CFPEI Community Impact Fund (Flowthrough)
Each year, through the generosity of various donors, the Community Foundation of PEI (CFPEI) earmarks funds for a specific and timely granting theme as it relates to the need within the Island Community. These donors/funds include: Edith & Eric C. Robinson Fund, Island Fund, Thomas F. and Katherine W. Upson Fund, Frank & Dorothy Lewis Community Strength Fund (for 2020), Don & Sheryl Livingstone Fund (2020) and the Arthur & Theresa MacDonald Fund.
Catherine Callbeck Endowment Fund (Designated – Endowment)
This fund was established by Hon. Catherine Callbeck to provide annual grants to PEI Music Festival Association, PEI Rural Beautification Society, PEI Humane Society, Duke of Edinburgh International as well as to UPEI in support of the Ruth Campbell Callbeck Memorial Scholarship.
Catherine Callbeck Flowthrough Fund (Flowthrough)
This fund was established by Hon. Catherine Callbeck to provide grants to various charitable causes.
Christ Church Kildare Capes Fund (Designated – Endowment)
The Christ Church Kildare Capes Fund was established to support the physical care and maintenance of the building, regardless of religious affiliation.
Christian Gavard Memorial Fund (Designated – Endowment)
This endowment fund was established in 2012 by Claude and Crystal Gavard to honour the life of Christian Gavard.
Clifford Lee Endowment Fund (Designated – Endowment)
This endowment fund was established in 2019 as a tribute to Clifford Lee, for his long-time commitment to the City of Charlottetown in support of Hospice PEI and Special Olympics PEI.
Cumberland Rocky Point Women’s Institute Legacy Fund (Designated – Endowment)
This endowment fund was established in 2006 by the Cumberland-Rocky Point Women’s Institute to provide annual grants to Westwood Primary and Eliot River Elementary for literary purposes.
David A. MacKay Fund (Endowment)
The David A. MacKay was established by David A. Mackay’s family in 2006 in honor of Mr. MacKay to provide grants to projects and organizations that are intended to improve the cardiac emergency response system on PEI.
David “Jiggs” MacDonald and Gerry Rutten Music Legacy Fund (Endowment)
This endowment fund was established to honour the memory of the two prominent members of the Island musical community; David MacDonald and Gerry Rutten to provide grants that support Island Musicians and community groups, through music scholarships, to assist community groups to run a music festival or purchase equipment.
Doug & Debbie Hall Fund (Donor Advised – Flowthrough)
This donor advised fund was established in 2018 by Doug & Debbie Hall to contribute to worthy charitable causes of their choosing.
Doug Dennis Memorial Fund (Endowment)
This endowment fund was established in 2019 by Doug’s son, Alan Dennis and his grandson, Alec Dennis to recognize and celebrate individuals and groups who deliver outstanding public service to the citizens and Government of PEI.
Drs. Gerry & Brian Barrett DAPEI Legacy Fund (Endowment)
This fund was established to provide extensive dental treatment needed because of disease, accident or heredity available to a low-income Islander who has no other financial assistance
Dr. Marlene Bryenton – Ghiz Park Fund (Designated – Endowment)
This fund was established in 2020 by Dr. Marlene Bryenton to provide an annual grant to the City of Charlottetown in support of the Joseph A. Ghiz Memorial Park, for the purchase of flowers and other expenses incurred in The Park’s maintenance.
Dr. Rhonda Matters Memorial Fund (Endowment)
The Dr. Rhonda Matters Memorial Fund was established as a tribute to Dr. Rhonda Matters who passed away far too soon of lymphoma, to support youth mental health initiatives, to continue the legacy of Rhonda’s passion throughout her career as a child psychologist.
Driscoll Fund For Inclusion (Designated – Endowment)
The Driscoll Fund for Inclusion was established to provide annual support to Inclusions East (Montague, PE) for staff training and client programming.
Dundas Community Cemetery Fund (Designated)
This fund was established in 2009 by the Dundas Community Cemetery in support of their organization.
Edith and Eric C Robinson Fund (Designated – Endowment)
This Community Fund was created by Edith Robinson in 2001 to honour the memory of her late husband Eric who died in 1996. Edith passed away in 2004. The income from this fund is used to make grants to local Island organizations to enhance the quality of life for Islanders.
Environment & Sustainability Fund (Endowment)
The Environment & Sustainability Fund was established to support various environmental and sustainability activities such as those to address climate change and its impact, the promotion of a circular economy, and the utilization of commercial agriculture adaption strategies. The hope is that the impact of the initiatives of local individuals and groups supported by the ESF Fund will become part of a worldwide groundswell of initiatives by individuals striving to ensure a viable environment for future generations to enjoy.
Frances & Raymond J. Sark Legacy Fund (Designated – Endowment)
This endowment fund was established in 2020 to provide annual grants to Our Lady of Hope Retreat Centre, Ellerslie Elementary School Library, Lennox Island Elementary School Library, Lennon Recovery House Association and Lennox Island First Nation Shoppe.
Friends of Camp Segunakadeck Fund (Designated – Endowment)
This endowment fund was established in 2012 to provide an annual grant to Camp Segunakadeck.
Harry & Kay Snow Memorial Fund (Endowment)
The Harry & Kay Snow Memorial Fund was established to support Mental Health & Addictions programs on PEI, Hospice Care Association of PEI and the Community Foundation of PEI for existing and emerging charitable needs for the communities of Prince Edward Island.
Hesta MacDonald Legacy Fund (Designated – Endowment)
This endowment fund was established in 2006 by Dr. Hesta MacDonald to encourage reading in the school system of PEI by providing annual grants, on an alternating basis, to Belfast Consolidated School and Queen Charlotte Intermediate for the purchase of library books.
Hon. Frank & Dorothy Lewis Community Strength Fund (Endowment)
The Hon. Frank & Dorothy Lewis Community Strength Fund was established as a tribute to Hon. Frank Lewis, O.P.E.I., Lieutenant Governor of PEI from 2011 to 2017, and Dorothy Lewis, O.P.E.I., for their lifelong commitment to volunteer service, community building and their natural gift for hospitality and example of hard work.
Island Arts & Heritage (Endowment)
The Island Arts & Heritage Fund was established by CFPEI to increase the visibility and sustainability of the provincial arts and heritage sector, using residual funds from the Island Arts and Heritage Stabilization Program of 2005.
Island Fund (Endowment)
This endowment fund was established in 1998 by the Community Foundation of PEI. This fund provides an annual grant in support of CFPEI’s Community Impact Fund, that supports causes based on the most need, as determined by the Board of Directors and/or the Granting Committee
Island Trails Fund (Designated – Endowment)
The Island Trails fund was established by Island Trails, a volunteer-based organization that helps maintain a group of trails around PEI, to provide an annual grant to support upkeep and improvements to ensure the long term viability of the trails.
The Jeanne Maki Environmental Fund (Designated – Endowment)
The granting capacity of the Jeanne Maki Environmental Fund shall be distributed annually to the Island Nature Trust, the Environment Coalition of PEI and the Community Foundation of PEI. The granting capacity of the Jeanne Maki Environmental Fund shall be distributed annually to the Island Nature Trust, the Environmental Coalition of Prince Edward Island Ltd and the Community Foundation of PEI’s Community Impact Fund.
The Jack Blanchard Music Program for Kids Fund (Endowment)
This endowment fund was established in honour of Jack Blanchard, to give the gift of music to children, by providing financial support to elementary school children who have the desire and talent for music lessons.
Katharyn (Myers) Lea Fund (Designated – Endowment)
This endowment fund was established in 2014 by David Lea and Ralph Lea, to provide an annual grant to Englewood School, in support of projects undertaken by full time staff members that will enhance the educational experience for present and/or future students of the school.
Living Memorial Trust Fund (Endowment)
The Living Memorial Trust Fund was established in 2007 by Elinore Keuper in honor of her late husband Dr. Charles Stuerke Keuper, who relished the natural beauty of his adopted home of PEI. The purpose of this fund is to provide grants to maintain and enhance private and public spaces that aid in the greening of Prince Edward Island, using native species when available.
L.M. Montgomery Literature Award For Children Endowment (Designated – Endowment)
This fund was established by the Heirs of Lucy Maud Montgomery, to provide an annual grant in support of the L.M. Montgomery Literature Award for Children.
McIver Family Fund (Endowment)
This combination Scholarship Fund and Designated Fund was established in 2015. It is a fund that will provide scholarships to graduates of Kinkora Regional High school and grants to assist students with disabilities. Grants are also designated for the upkeep of the St. Malachy’s cemetery.
Oscar Waugh Friends Foundation Fund (Endowment)
This endowment fund was established in 2023 as a Legacy for Oscar and to support causes that were important to him, all relating to childhood cancer, specifically to those children diagnosed on PEI. Further details will be available in the very near future on the types of projects that will be supported.
PEI Family Violence Prevention Services Fund (Designated – Endowment)
This fund was established at Community Foundation of PEI in 2016, by PEI Family Violence Prevention Services in support of their organization.
PEI Symphony Orchestra Endowment Fund (Designated – Endowment)
This fund was established at Community Foundation of PEI in 2023 by the PEI Symphony Orchestra in support of their organization.
Rossckett Family Fund (Designated – Endowment)
This fund was established in 2021 in support of CFPEI’s Community Impact Fund that supports causes based on the most need as determined by the Board of Directors and/or the Granting Committee.
Serengeti Campership Fund (Designated – Endowment)
This community fund was established in honor of the life of Janet von Weiler, and is intended to support PEI & NB T1D Kids Camps (Camp Pheonix & Camp Dragonfly) to be used to provide direct funding for campers that cannot afford to attend camp as well as to help keep the camper fees at a reasonable rate for all families.
Shaena Herring Half Marathon for Jake Fund (Flowthrough)
This flowthrough fund was established in 2022 by Shaena Herring, in support of the Jacob Simmons Sports Scholarship Fund .
Souris Fund (Endowment)
This community fund was established in 2004 by an anonymous donor in order to benefit the community of Souris.
Summer Islanders Legacy Fund (Endowment)
The Summer Islanders Legacy Fund was established by several summer island residents in 2006 in order to encourage “Summer Islanders” to return each year. The purpose of this fund is to provide grants to support activities that celebrate the Island as the special place summer residents call home.
Terra Nova Fund (Endowment & Flowthrough)
This fund was established in 2012 to award grants and operating costs to a number of worthy charitable causes in order to advance, nurture, and sustain programs focusing on health and human services, history/heritage and the environment, the performing arts, and animal welfare. Thomas and Betty Hall Fund (Designated – Endowment)
This Fund was established in 2010 to support numerous causes and individuals on PEI. The Fund supports causes such as education, heritage, culture, wildlife preservation, and the environment.

Tom & Eleanor Davies Endowment Fund (Designated – Endowment)
This Fund was established in 2021 in support of Park Royal United Church and Hospice Palliative Care Association of PEI in perpetuity.
The Jake Fund (Flowthrough)
This flowthrough fund was established in 2020 in support of The Jake, a walking, running or cycling event, inspired by the life of Jacob Simmons.
The Nice Boys Fund (Endowment)
This endowment fund was established in 2023 by The Nice Boys to support community needs in the Bedeque, Borden, Crapaud and Kinkora area in perpetuity.

SCHOLARSHIPS
Fund income is used to provide scholarships to Island students attending post-secondary schools, according to criteria decided by the donor or determined by the CFPEI in the interest of the donor. Click on the name of a fund to learn more about it!
Architects’ Association of PEI Scholarship
This Scholarship Fund was established by the Architects Association of PEI in 2004 to help Island students pursue degreed studies (bachelor, masters, doctoral) leading to a career in the field of architecture.
Arthur and Theresa MacDonald Charitable Trust Scholarship
This scholarship intended to assist Island students who are in a PEI post-secondary program and would benefit from financial assistance.
Bourse d’études Hervé H. Poirier
Cette Bourse a pour objectif d’encourager un(e) finissant(e) de l’École-sur-Mer, Summerside, qui fait preuve de fierté envers la langue française en poursuivant ses études post-secondaires dans une institution de langue française. / Established in 2019 by Hervé H. Poirier, this Bourse d’études wishes to support a graduating student from École-sur-Mer who wishes to continue his or her studies at a college or university where French is the main language of education.
Brodie McCarthy Memorial Leadership Scholarship
This scholarship is intended to provide a scholarship to a student with strong leadership qualities, sense of community and strong academic background, in their graduating year of Montague Regional High school, to attend a post-secondary institution in the fall immediately following graduation.
Catherine and Helena Yeo Scholarship
This scholarship is intended for Prince County students who will be attending a post-secondary institution in the fall immediately following high school graduation.
Charles and Ethel McCardle Scholarship
This scholarship is intended for a PEI graduate that shows effort and dedication to academic studies, understands the importance of community involvement and volunteerism & will be attending a post-secondary institution full time immediately following high school graduation.
Drs. Gerry & Brian Barrett DAPEI Legacy Fund Scholarship
This scholarship is intended for an Island student entering your third or fourth year of the Doctor of Dental Surgery program (or equivalent) at Dalhousie University.
Gordon Doughart Memorial Award Scholarship
This scholarship is intended for an Island graduate or a member of his/her immediate family that has been directly impacted by cancer, to attend their first year of Holland College immediately following high school graduation.
HRH Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Legacy Scholarship
This scholarship is intended for a PEI student who demonstrates leadership experience and volunteer support to causes attributed to the Royal couple.
Jack Scott Memorial Scholarship
The Jack Scott Memorial Scholarship, was created in 2021 in memory of John Robert Scott a graduate of Col. Gray High School, known as a student as Rob Scott, he continued on to study Computer Science at UNB and to work in the field in PEI and BC. The scholarship is for graduating students from Col. Gray High School who have excelled in Computer Science with plans to continue their studies in this field. Priority will be given to those in need.
Jacob Simmons Sports Scholarship
This scholarship is intended for a PEI graduating student who possesses leadership qualities, contributes to their community & will be attending a post-secondary institution in the fall immediately following high school graduation.
Janice Kun Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is intended to support a young PEI art student who will be attending a post secondary institution in the fall in the area of fine arts.
Joan Auld Scholarship
This scholarship is intended to support a PEI student who will be attending a post secondary institution in the fall in a craft related field.
Joseph Spriet Scholarship
This scholarship is intended for residents of PEI who are entered in a course of study in a public post-secondary institution in either; Human Services, Business, Sports or Agriculture.
Joyce Paynter Memorial Education Award
This scholarship is intended for a student enrolled in or attending UPEI, Holland College or Collège Acadie Î-P-É and demonstrates a leadership role/involvement in their community.
Lorne and Ruby Bonnell Scholarship
This scholarship is intended for a student graduating from UPEI who has been accepted at a Canadian University for the study of a scientific field.
Lowell Phillips Scholarship
This scholarship is intended for a student that is a PEI resident with a defined physical disability, accepted to a post-secondary school and demonstrates financial need.
Matt McKenna Scholarship for Academic Improvement and Community Involvement
This scholarship is intended for a student in their graduating year at Bluefield High School, to pursue a business or hospitality related program at UPEI or Holland College in the fall immediately following graduation. This student should have proven to have overcome adversity, be involved in sports and demonstrate academic improvement year over year..
McIver Family Fund (Endowment)
This combination Scholarship Fund and Designated Fund was established in 2015. It is a fund that will provide scholarships to graduates of Kinkora Regional High school and grants to assist students with disabilities. Grants are also designated for the upkeep of the St. Malachy’s cemetery.
Montague-Mount Hamilton Goodwill Games Scholarship
This scholarship is intended for a graduating student who participated as a player in the Montague-Mount Hamilton Goodwill Games on the Montague Minor Hockey Association team.
My Biggest Fan Foundation Fund Scholarship
This scholarship is intended for a student in their graduating year of Morell High School who plays hockey and will be using the scholarship to attend post secondary in the fall, immediately following graduation.
Neil Robertson Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is intended for a PEI student who is in years 1-4 at the University of Prince Edward Island or Holland College. The student must be competing as an ‘endurance sport athlete’.
Noreen and George Corrigan Learning Disability Scholarship
This scholarship is intended for an Island student with specific learning disabilities to attend a post-secondary institution.
Noreen and George Corrigan Single Mother Scholarship
This scholarship is intended for a single mother who is enrolled in and/or attending a post-secondary school.
Orin Carver Scholarship
This scholarship is intended for a PEI high school graduate or currently enrolled student at UPEI or Holland College intending to further full-time studies at UPEI or HC, that exhibits excellence or leadership in arts or athletics.
Pegasus Biotech Scholarship
This scholarship is intended for students enrolled in Bioscience or related studies at the University of Prince Edward Island and Holland College.
PEI Regiment Association Scholarship
This scholarship is intended to assist current and former member of the PEIRA in their educational pursuits. It can also assist those with other ties to The Regiment or who show a strong interest in it’s legacy.
PEI Protestant Children’s Trust Scholarship
This scholarship is intended for a Protestant student in financial need to attend Holland College full time in the fall.
Ron and Theresa Hudson Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is intended for a graduating student from Three Oaks Senior High School, that combines strong academics, sports, school activities and community involvement.
Stephen Turner Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is intended for a student that has shown outstanding community leadership, academic success, personality, contributed to Island life and has participated in Island politics.
St. Andrew’s Society Scholarship
This scholarship is intended for a PEI Scottish, Catholic, full-time student to attend any of their first three years of university.
St. John’s Lodge No.1 – Ross Estates Scholarship
This scholarship is intended for a PEI high school graduate who is a direct descendent of a PEI Mason and demonstrates a financial need.
Summerside-Natick International Friendship Hockey Scholarship
This scholarship is intended for a student involved in the Summerside Area Minor Hockey Association, entering into their first year of post-secondary studies.
Thomas and Betty Hall Entrance Scholarship
This scholarship is intended for a student entering a BEd program at UPEI.
Thomas and Betty Hall Excellence Scholarship
This scholarship is intended for a student who has demonstrated qualities that are evident in teaching excellence as demonstrated through their BEd study.
Tom Wilkinson Rotary Scholarship
This scholarship was established on December 20, 2023 by the Rotary Club of Charlottetown Royalty in recognition of Tom’s dedication and service as the Charter President of the Club and his dedication to education as a teacher and administrator. The Scholarship will be awarded to a Colonel Gray High School graduating student commencing in spring 2024.
Willard F. Cameron Scholarship
This scholarship is intended for a graduate in financial need, that is a descendant or a Mason or deceased Mason, in good standing under the Grand Lodge of PEI.
