Past President
John Robinson and the Robinson family name are well known to the agricultural community on the Island. He grew up on the family farm in Augustine Cove, attended the local 2 room school, then Prince of Wales College, and attained a BSc in Chemical Engineering from the University of New Brunswick. While at UNB he met his wife to be, Hazel, and they moved back to PEI in 1966 to join his father, Eric and brother, Alan in the family business, Eric C Robinson Inc. at Albany.
John and Hazel raised their 3 children in North Tryon and the family has grown to include 8 grandchildren. Although he continues to serve as Chairman of the board of directors since retiring in 2001, the Robinson Group of Companies is currently owned and operated by Eric’s six grandchildren. A successful business person in the agricultural arena, John has held many leadership positions at the local and national level dealing with business development, the economy, the environment, and agriculture. John and Hazel are privileged to now live in Charlottetown where they are quite involved in their grandchildren’s lives, travel extensively, all the while being active in their church and various volunteer roles including John’s current role as President and Chair of the Fund Development Committee at the Community Foundation of PEI.
